tone down原指「使（色彩、態度、氣氛等）緩和」，用於口語中常以tone it down來表示「低調或收斂一點」，如You need to tone it down a little.就是說「你得低調一點」。

Jane:　How many people are we?
Elliot:　There’ll be four in our car.
Jane:　I’ll make some extra so everybody can try my new recipes.
